We arrived on a ferry boat that felt like an airport! The seats looked like airplane seats and there was a duty free store, a bar, and an arcade! After the hour boat ride we boarded a bus for a two and a half hour ride from Colonia to Montevideo where we were spending the night.

They gave us fernet and coke as we walked onto the ferry!
We arrived to our hostel, "El Viajero", expecting to have a room alone for the six of us and when they told us what room we were in to our surprise there was a sleeping extremely grumpy man that was to be our roommate for the night… Living in a hostel is definitely an abroad experience and I was definitely a princess not enjoying the bunk beds the relative dirtiness of the place, the communal bathrooms, the shared blankets, and overall messiness of living in such close quarters with everyone. So, I did it, it was cheap and decided never will I ever stay in a hostel again…sorry mom and dad.
Pregaming in the hostel- interesting art work...
After a quick turn around we went to an area in Montevideo that has all the bars. It is a pretty small city so all the bars are really close to each other so if you are at one you can walk to the next. We found an Irish pub that had the laid back environment we were looking for before going to a club- Lotus.

We didn't know until we got there but at Lotus it was a gay night! We had a lot of fun and the place played the best American music!

We stayed out until about 430am! It was such a great first night, could be the best yet!
