We took an hour train ride (free?) to the town of Tigre a suburb of Buenos Aires that is located on a river. Janelles home stay sister owns cabins on island off of the town so we rented one for two nights for 20 dollars a person!
We had to take a boat taxi to reach the island where the cabin was located and then walk 10 minutes alongside the river u til we reached our cabin! It was a lot "campier" than we expected but definitely did the job for the weekend! Definety no wifi, removed from society, no real running water, and a mini gas stove, with 3 twin beds and a full.

Our first day we explored the island we were on and went to the one grocery store in the house of a pretty friendly family where we bought meat and veggies to cool ourselves dinner. This was also where I was called out and asked if the owner could "speak to someone who spoke Spanish" (I was a little offended).
We bought chicken, meat, tomatoes, and rice to make dinner!
The boys were in charge of starting the fire as the girls made the salad rice and defrosted the meat and chicken. Starting the fire was a huge feat accomplished extremely successfully with the use of coals and which allowed us to have our very own "Asado"! The chicken ended up being bloody but the meat salad and rice turned out great!

We ended up falling asleep pretty early and waking up to a perfect day to be in the sun about 80 degrees and sunny! Only problem was our water stopped working so we couldn't even use the bathroom until about 130 when we found the owner to turn on the water.
We laid outside and tomared sol for a few hours and I finallllly have some color and look like myself again!

After laying out we decide to go to leave the island and go to the amusement park. It was extremely underwhelming...we had to pay to enter and then pay for every ride. We also had to eat at the most disgusting food court that made everyone feel not so hot. We rode only 1 ride...but I HATED it, the entire thing was loops going upside down and backwards and I was terrified before during and after couldn't stop shaking. It was another reminder why I hate roller coasters!

We took the boat back to our cabin just in time to get ready for an amazing night! It was a full moon so the restaurant owned by the people we rented the cabin from was throwing a huge party with dinner and singers right next to our cabin! We changed had a delicious dinner while us and about 40 other people enjoyed great live music under the moon. There were so many kids running around we had the best time playing with Delphina and vicente! Vicente was 3 years old and him and his parents went on stage and performed a song together! It was soo cute!
During the night we felt SO ABROAD. I couldnt stop thinking, we are literally in an island in the middle of nowhere listening to Argentines sing under a full moon and playing with little children without a worry in the world. It was really such a cool experience and so hard to put it into words.
We went to sleep that night after getting into a fight over the blankets (I still know I am right) but ended up blanketless thanks to Jonny and Jenny...
